For many – the fact that Christ could not heal every one or desired to heal every one may be shocking…
There are several principles going on here at the same time, the power to heal Christ and others have that – the faith to be healed, the will of God, and the choice to say no I don’t want to be healed…
Lets look at some of these parts – the healer may – like Christ have power to heal you but do you want to be healed or better said – have the faith in Christ to heal you? In some areas – like around where Christ was born – he ( Christ ) could do no great miracles – Why? In my mind – they lacked faith in Christ or doubted he was whom he said he was – remember – is not this the Carpenters Son? That is all they thought or believed? Maybe.
We have to be vary careful in our judgments – we don’t know many things.
There are cases for some divine choices or power – make BEFORE our birth that have been done because of our or Gods choices with us – remember the blind man – and his apostles asked him who has sinned that this man was born blind – and Christ corrected their judgement – and said – neither has this man sinned or his parents – but that the Glory of God might be made manifest – and later he was completely healed and he parents testified before the religious leaders who battled over the healing facts and over where this Jesus was more than a man!
Now there have been recorded stories where God stopped people from being healed to do his will – one such story was with Joseph Smith.
Joseph had the power to heal people and had done so many times, but in this case was told to not heal people or he would be taken in the sickness of cholera struck the camp – see part of the story – below link –
https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/ensign/2005/06/joseph-smith-and-zions-camp?lang=eng
Now in more complete journal entries – Joseph was not only told to warn these men to stop complaining and creating strife – or a scourge would come but when it came Joseph got sick to but recovered – and want to bless others who were sick but was warned not to do so – he didn’t like that but humbled himself and did what he was commanded to do – God’s will and power over rule anything we may desire – even healing ourselves or others!
No one even prophets or Christ have authority over the Father’s will and power – that’s why Christ always sought the Father’s will in all things!
Yes peoples doubts, fears, or sins may keep them from being healed but that his their choice – it may not be God’s choice – that is why he ( God ) often commands us to come unto him in greater faith and repent – so we can be healed – or can increase in faith to be healed – either way it helps us improve and move in a direction we need to go!
Virtue – Remember the story of the woman’s virtue – he had an issue with blood and wanted to be healed – had the faith to be healed and planned to be where Christ had gone before – she just wanted to touch the hem of his garments and be healed – so that is what she did – but when it happened in a crowd of people – what did Christ say – who touched me and he felt that Virtue went out of him – he stopped and asked that question – the woman – confessed – Christ told her – that her faith had made her whole – healed or complete – light moves to greater light – in this case Virtue went to greater virtue – she had more virtue than Christ? Maybe – you decide!
There are many things I could talk about in healing process but I’ll end with just two more stories – first one – remember – the story of the man who was healed of blindness – there are several but this one happened in two parts – he was blessed but only partly had his site back and was blessed AGAIN and gained his whole sight back – why did it take two blessings? Did his faith grow also after the first blessing? See below – mark 8
22 They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him. 23 He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man’s eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?” 24 He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.” 25 Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. 26 Jesus sent him home, saying, “Don’t even go into[1]the village.”
What are we to learn from this lesson?
Was this two part healing according to this mans faith?
Now the last two stories – the disciples come to Christ and wonder about some group of healing done in Christs name and they are not known among the disciples – and Christ tells them – to leave these people alone – for no one can do a miracle in his name if he is not faithful in Christ!
Intolerance Rebuked – See Mark 9 38-41
38And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us. 39But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me. 40For he that is not against us is on our part. 41For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.
Now lastly – sometimes you need to prepare before you heal with prayer fasting and meditation because you need help way beyond your own and you may need to do this as a group – using combined fasting prayers and faith of several faithful people –
One of these days – you will have to remind me to talk about true order of prayer – but until then – fasting and praying before healing in many cases are needed to do what you can not do by yourself and you may need to do this in a group – of united faithful people – ( True order of Prayer )!
See the following – Mark 9 – notice verse 28
14And when he came to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes questioning with them. 15And straightway all the people, when they beheld him, were greatly amazed, and running to him saluted him. 16And he asked the scribes, What question ye with them? 17And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit; 18And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not. 19He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me. 20And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming. 21And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child. 22And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us. 23Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. 24And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. 25When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him. 26And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead. 27But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.
28And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out? 29And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
Now one of my favorite videos about the man who was born blind and did not sin nor his parents – but that the Glory of God was manifest!
