Our Father in Heaven

We talk of Christ and rejoice in his power but often forget about Heavenly Father…

We should be praying to Heavenly Father – but how often to we really talk about him, not enough I am sure…

GOD THE FATHER

It is generally the Father, or Elohim,

who is referred to by the title God. He is called the Father because He is the father of our spirits (Num. 16:22; 27:16; Mal. 2:10; Matt. 6:9; Eph. 4:6; Heb. 12:9).

( Just a reminder – God the Father is the father of all of us – he created our spirit bodies – well he and heavenly Mother – they are a spiritual Parents.)

God the Father is the supreme ruler of the universe.

( The FATHER – has authority over Jesus Christ and his brother – the Holy Ghost, but lets both of these other GODS, fulfill their callings too, one as a Messiah and redeemer, and other as a sanctifier of truth, a testator and witness of the other two, the Holy Ghost does not yet have a body, but we assume he will one day and finish his earthly birth and death too. These three have always had a vary special relationship with one another…)

He is all powerful (Gen. 18:14; Alma 26:35; D&C 19:1–3), all knowing (Matt. 6:8; 2 Ne. 2:24), and everywhere present through His Spirit (Ps. 139:7–12; D&C 88:7–13, 41).

( But he does have a resurrected and physical body too – Just like Christ does! )

Mankind has a special relationship to God that sets man apart from all other created things: men and women are God’s spirit children (Ps. 82:6; 1 Jn. 3:1–3; D&C 20:17–18). ( As his offspring and spiritual children.)

There are few recorded instances of God the Father appearing to or speaking to man. ( Below is a short list that we know of – there could be more too – we are unaware of so many things! )

The scriptures say that He spoke to Adam and Eve (Moses 4:14–31) and introduced Jesus Christ on several occasions (Matt. 3:17; 17:5; John 12:28–29; 3 Ne. 11:3–7).

He appeared to Stephen (Acts 7:55–56) and Joseph Smith (JS—H 1:17).

Later He appeared to both Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon (D&C 76:20, 23).

( This is important because – it shows God the Father is still to a point involved in the affairs of man to an extent – what future appearances we are only aware of one – the great and last judgement day at the end of the 1000 years of peace, though their might be others – time will show us a great deal more about – God the Father).

To those who love God and purify themselves before Him, God sometimes grants the privilege of seeing and knowing for themselves that He is God (Matt. 5:8; 3 Ne. 12:8; D&C 76:116–118; 93:1). (There are special and holy occasions for sure – but they do happen! )

My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me, Mark 15:34.

( Christ knew The Father was NOT THERE! )

These men are the servants of the most high God, Acts 16:17.

We are the offspring of God, Acts 17:28–29.

Thou shalt offer thy sacraments unto the Most High, D&C 59:10–12.

Enoch beheld the spirits that God had created, Moses 6:36.

( God the Father often – is administering – in some compacity – major affairs of mankind! )

Man of Holiness is his name, Moses 6:57.

(We do not know how many times Christ and the Father have appeared to men but it has happened in the past and will probably happen in the future!)

Our Heavenly Father has a plan for us to return to him long before we came to this earth, there is so much more to his life and our life before we came to this earth… when we know more about that – we will know about who we are – this all has been taken from us – so we could really be tested here on this earth – otherwise there would be no real test….
